The Sikeston Department of Economic Development, an executive department of the City of Sikeston, provides a full array of economic development services to new or expanding businesses. These services include site selection, project finance and incentive programs. We invite you to take a look at what Sikeston has to offer......
Take a look.......at our location! We're right at the junction of I-55 and I-57, ideally positioned to take advantage of a transportation network that will move your product anywhere it needs to go! Nearly equi-distant between Memphis and St. Louis, 43% of the total U.S. population is located within 500 miles of Sikeston. Burlington Northern and Union Pacific provide rail service. Commercial air service and freeze-free ports are available within 25 miles.
Take a look.......at theSikestonBusiness, Education and Technology Park! 860 acres of reasonably priced prime industrial sites await your consideration. The entire park lies within the Sikeston Enterprise Zone, which allows tax benefits to be offered to qualifying businesses. Rail access is available. Infrastructure is in place, including a new water tower and waste water treatment plant. The park, located at the intersection of US Highway 61 and Missouri Route ZZ., is linked directly to Interstate 55 via Missouri route HH. Interstate 57 is minutes away. Park occupants include Atlas Cold Storage, Construction Trailer Specialists, Inc., Good Humor-Breyers Ice Cream, Missouri Department of Transportation Regional Headquarters, and the Sikeston Area Higher Education Center (SAHEC). The Higher Education Center, a cooperative effort between Southeast Missouri State University, Three Rivers Community College and Sikeston Public Schools, offers academic classes and industry-specific training programs tailored to meet your business needs. Protective covenants govern the Park, ensuring that its reputation as the premier industrial location between St. Louis and Memphis is maintained. Minimum lot size is five acres. Call Ed Dust, Director, Sikeston Department of Economic Development, at 1-800-494-6476 for more information.
Take a look.....at Sikeston's Enterprise Zone benefits! The Sikeston Enterprise Zone represents a comprehensive effort by the state and local governments to create an especially favorable environment for qualifying businesses by accelerating the rate of return on investments with these incentives: The above exemption and credits may be taken each year for a maximum of ten (10) years or until the termination of the Enterprise Zone designation, as long as 30% of new employees are Zone residents or "special" employees. The credits may offset up to the following percentage of the taxpayer's total Missouri business income; Refunds may be claimed only after filing the third or fourth year tax credit applications, or if the taxpayer has no Missouri taxable income for years three (3) or four (4), by contacting Tax Benefit Programs. The refund is then claimed on the Missouri Department of Revenue Income tax credit form under "Enterprise Zone Credits". The Enterprise Zone encompasses much of the city of Sikeston, including the entire Business, Education and Technology Park. Take a look......at our work force! The Sikeston labor market area consists of Mississippi, New Madrid, Scott and New Madrid Counties. You'll find local employers ready to testify to the productivity and work ethic of their employees. Good Humor-Breyers, Alan Wire, and Cott Beverages are among companies who have successfully expanded their Sikeston plants, drawing from the local labor pool to staff their expansions. Please call 1-800-494-6476 to request a copy of the June 2000 "Verification of the Southeast Missouri Workforce Availability" study, which documents substantial area underemployment. Take a look......at our electric rates! Our municipally owned power plant offers very attractive economic incentive rates.
